What I'm Doing Now

This is a now page. Updated May 2026.

Summer has well and truly arrived in Europe so I am prioritising spending time outside, walking my tiny dog (who recently turned 1 year old! 🎂) and riding my motorcycle.

Nico on holiday.

My main area of focus continues to be running Supercede. Founders typically fluctuate between working in the business and working on the business. After about half a year of closely guiding product direction, I’m now shifting back to working on the business.

I’m thinking about how the most recent advances in AI have changed the nature of the work that I do, and that of the work that my colleagues do. The economics of software development have drastically changed. The fundamentals of software development have not — I think they’re actually as important as ever, and I’m finding myself leaning harder on software craftsmanship and test-driven design than ever before. Authenticity is a new challenge. Scroll through LinkedIn, and you find that most posts are the same ChatGPT-generated drivel.

I’ve started reading The Logic of War by Anders Puck Nielsen. He’s been, in my opinion, the most insightful and most consistently accurate analyst of the war in Ukraine over the last four years.
